Naming and Typography

Both itch.io or itch are lowercase:

  • itch.io is the name of the company and the website (which includes the online store, creator dashboard, etc.). It is usually pronounced either “itch-eye-oh” or “itch-ee-oh”.
  • itch is the name of our desktop application, which allows downloading and keeping games and other software up-to-date. When additional context is needed, it’s referred to as “the itch app”.

The font we use throughout our products is the high-quality open source Lato. It’s available:

About

itch.io is an open marketplace for independent digital creators with a focus on independent video games.

It’s a platform that enables anyone to sell the content they've created, using tools that are powerful, flexible, and accessible to everyone.

Launched in 2013 by Leaf Corcoran, itch.io is run by a small, geographically distributed team committed to quality products, open source software, and supporting diversity among creators and creations alike.

Over 140,000 games are currently available for sale or download through the store and its desktop app. In March 2016, Leaf announced the site had paid out just over 1 million dollars to creators. As of 2018 over 7 million dollars has been collected on behalf of creators.
