MAKE IT FLASHY MAKE IT ARCANE MAKE IT YOURS

Welcome to the TRANS ORACULAR JAM, a radical trans art jam being held from May 1st 2024 - June 1st 2024.

TOJ is a jam for trans art exploring divination, oracles, fortune telling, and similar. We welcome fortune-telling systems, games using tarot cards, personal oracles, and anything else you can think of that either is or is inspired by divination tools. Submit games, web apps, zines, tutorials, WIPs, small projects, and whatever else you can think of!

TOJ is hosted by Moira Campbell, stargazersasha, and the Reliquary Street Station Discord community. Please reach out with any questions!

The Trans Oracular Jam is hosted by the Reliquary Street Station Discord community, run by stargazersasha, which is a space for radical trans artists to share their art and collaborate. The space is always active, even between jams! Click here to join our server.

Browse our other jams: Trans Fucking Rage Jam (March - April 2022); Trans Joy Jam (July 2022 - August 2022); Trans Fucking Jam (March - April 2023); and the thirteen Reliquary Weekly Jams (list can be found at the bottom of the linked page!)

FAQ:

What exactly can I submit? / What does oracular mean?

Anything involving tools used to tell the future, reflect, and discover information! Think tarot, palm-reading, astrology, etc. Anything that is or is about these kinds of tools are welcome!

The only thing I ask is to keep in mind that many real-world traditions are important to their cultures and thus to treat influence from real-world divination with respect and care.

What if I don’t believe in divination?

That’s fine! I (Moira) have a pretty complex relationship with oracle systems, which was part of the impetus for this jam. If you use divinatory tools seriously you are welcome here, and you are also welcome if you think they’re aesthetically interesting, or have a non-spiritual application, or whatever other angle you can think of. All I ask is to keep in mind the above note about respecting cultural traditions.

Can I submit if I’m not a game dev?

Of course! Although Reliquary Street Station is connected to the trans ttrpg scene, this is not a ttrpg jam. You can submit any form of art you’d like.

Do I have to make something new for the jam?

No! You are more than welcome to submit something that you’ve already been working on. You also can submit WIPs and incomplete projects, and you can continue working after the allotted time - just reach out to one of the organizers and they can get your late submission onto the jam page.

What if I run out of time?

We think of our jam deadlines as soft deadlines, and encourage people to submit their work even after the jam is officially over. In fact, many people have done this for all of our jams! To do so, find Sasha or Moira on Discord (@stargazersasha and @selenotropic, respectively) and send them the link to your submission after you've uploaded it to itch. We'll help you through the steps from there!

Who is running the jam?

Moira Campbell and stargazersasha, trans artists and members of the Reliquary Street Station discord server. If you are interested in a radical trans art community, you are more than welcome to join! If you'd like to see past jams that Sasha has run, check out the links above!
