The rules and description are clear here. You even pasted the section of the rules specifying the reliance of the game on MetaFab. Appreciate your submission, but because you didn't integrate MetaFab your game is disqualified. We host jams monthly. Yes any 2D genre is fine :) we will be collectively voting on the theme as a community just before the jam in a kickoff Discord voice chat session!

You can use any platform you'd like; however, remember that the judging will be heavily community driven. Android would likely significantly reduce the pool of people (including the admins of this competition) that could easily play your game. Sticking to Windows is a safe bet. Perhaps in the future, we will run a mobile-only competition.

Thanks for the question. One of the core systems needs to rely on MetaFab. In short, this would be considered the "economic layer" -- or upgrades, progression system, etc... Referencing players alone wouldn't constitute a "core system" used within the game. Happy to dive in deeper in Discord if you'd like to join and ask more detailed questions.

A* pathfinding is okay. The rule of thumb for this jam is that helper scripts are allowed, but not scripts that create the core gameplay mechanic.
