I need feedback on this game idea to see if it's worth pursuing.

I have this concept for a game. I want to know if people would play a game like it, and if the idea is worth pursuing or not. I have prepared a some concept art and a prototype to better convey my idea.

Concept

To not make the same mistake as last time, the concept would be simple, but small in scope. The game would be a small wave-based fighter where you'd have to survive against 3 waves of enemies. The game would feature some fighting game elements since I'm personally a fan of those games, but it wouldn't be as technically advanced.

The general game loop is that there is a timer that will constantly tick down. Once that timer hits 0, a new wave of enemies will spawn. The game does not wait for you to defeat every enemy in the current wave. The gist is that you must defeat as much enemies as you can before you get overwhelmed. The game ends once all 3 waves have spawned, and all enemies are defeated.

I'll be using the project to learn multiple things like controller support,  porting the game to other platforms like Linux, etc.  Even though this will most likely be a solo project, the game is open source and hosted on GitHub. I'll gladly accept any contributions as long as aligns with the project's coding conventions, and it fits with what I have in mind for the game.

Prototype

What I have right now is the minimal viable product. The graphics consist of rectangles. All the player character would be able to do is move around, and perform a light attack, but there is a practice dummy to test the attack on. For the prototype,  what I'm mainly looking for is the feedback on how the game feels as it is now. Specifically the movement, attacking, and the camera.

If you have Linux, I would really appreciate if you try the prototype out, and see how it functions on your end. There are a couple issues with the Linux version as this is my first time making a cross platform game. Although most of the issues could be attributed to me using the Windows Subsystem for Linux to test the Linux version.
