Congratulations astrohelm! Your game won Duck Duck Jam. 🦆
We need to make arrangements for the prize winnings. Discord: AquaduckStudio#0780

Are you in the Discord? We may need to make some arrangements today around 4pm.

Great job.

Fun game. I was channeling some john wick energy there with 100 kills

Great job.

Nice.

This was a good game. Textures started to bug out and turn purple on me though.

I got stuck at the same spot. Cool concept, Ground Worm Day

Great game

How do you make a flavored cocktail? Ice, Corn syrup, and ____

The collision geometry and jump handling need some work.

The collision geometry is all over the place.

Your game isn't playable in browser. Please message me on Discord to get this fixed ASAP.

(1 edit)

This needs to be playable in browser. This is a playable in browser platform game jam. Please fix this before the deadline. If you're having issues, check your compression format- make sure it's set to Brotli.

(1 edit)

Make sure your compression format is Brotli. Gzip doesn't work on itch io. In Unity, go to Project Settings > Player> HTML5 tab > compression format

I can help you with this. are you on the discord?

I understand. Good luck on your tests!

I believe in you! 🦆

it’s a game that is playable in browser, in this case specifically on itch.io.

If you look at Itch’s games, they have a filter for games that are playable in browser:

You can use pre-made code. Most add-ons for unity and unreal use pre-made code.

in your case, if you don’t want the prize money then it’ll go to American Cancer Society 🙂

The winner of this game jam will be receiving Bitcoin worth approximately $200 USD. Hopefully this will be as simple as the winner sends me a wallet address, and I send the winnings to that wallet address. But sometimes things aren't so easy so I want to clear up some things upfront that could potentially be an issue for the winner at the end of the jam:

  • Teams - I only want 1 wallet address. If you are competing in this jam as part of a team, it is your team's responsibility to decide how you all want to handle the winnings on your own time. I am not going to be a part of your process. The winner will present me with one wallet address and the winnings will be dispersed from me to it on May 30th 2024 or up to 1 month after. I am not responsible for anything past that. This is a cover-my-own-butt rule here because transactions have fees and if someone joins with a team of 10,000 people (yeah i know that wouldn't happen but w/e) then I'd get stuck with paying 10,000 transaction fees which could add up to hundreds of thousands of dollars. So 1 wallet address. No exceptions.
  • Spot Price - Because the value of Bitcoin fluctuates every millisecond, I am setting the $200 USD equivalency value at the current price of Bitcoin as of May 30th 2024 at 4:00 PM CST according to Coinbase's converter to the 7th decimal place. (For example as of this post, $200 USD = 0.0032407 BTC)
  • Forfeiture - If the winner does not have a wallet address, I'm happy to wait up to a month for you to make one. If you win, but don't have a wallet address and do not want to make a wallet address, here are some options available to you: You can give it to a friend if your friend has a wallet address, you can gift it to a charity by sending me the charity's wallet address which are publicly available online, or we can coordinate an exchange on Discord for a gift card available on sites like Bitrefill. However, if the winner does not provide me with a wallet address by June 30th, 2024, if no alternatives are found by this date, I will be sending the winnings to American Cancer Society.
  • Wrong Address - When the winner sends me a wallet address, I will copy and paste that wallet address as-is. That is where I am sending the winnings. If you then tell me that you made an error and that wallet address is incorrect and give me a different wallet address after I sent out the winnings, that's on you. I have no way of recovering those funds. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the address. Please do not be careless with this step and lose your winnings.

Hopefully this clears up some questions. I'm excited about the jam and I love you all.

I like your 3d model art. I made 4 games with Game Creator. If you check my Itch page, it's all of them except Moonlord. Lmk if you want to team up (aquaduckstudio on Discord)

Remember that time I helped you upload your own game to your game jam because you didn’t know how? This is how you treat people who helped you- you follow me around like a stalker. Get a life.

Duck Duck Jam begins in 11 days and we have a lot of fun stuff planned like YouTubers judging the contest and streaming themselves playing your game! The winner of the game jam will receive ~$200 equivalent in Bitcoin sent to the wallet address of your choosing.

Here is the best part- We only have 17 people signed up as of right now. We know the statistics on game jams that typically only 10% of entries submit a finished game. That means if you come, compete and submit a finished game, your chance at winning that prize is huge

This game jam is for making a playable-in-browser game, with the theme being announced at the start of the jam. This theme will not be genre-limiting, meaning if you like making horror games, or if you like making visual novels, you're open to create a game in your preferred genre style as long as it is playable in-browser.

So go sign up at https://itch.io/jam/duck-duck-jam and get your game featured on a YouTube channel and get a good shot at a big prize!

I've found AI to be a useful resource when im trying to brainstorm the functions in my game. like for example if i want a gameobject to orbit around another game object without breaking or not working, ill ask an ai like chatgpt, "using unity, what is a clean and reliable way to make X object do Y action." and itll write out for you a step by step instruction guide. and if it gives you something unclear, you can ask it to clarify that specific point for you. Very useful tool for game developing.

Hey Duck Duck Jammers!

Whether it's your first time diving into a game jam or you're a seasoned jammer, here are some nuggets of wisdom that have served me well across numerous jams:

  1. Submit Early
Don't wait until the last minute! You can submit your game and still update it before the submission deadline. Avoid the panic of being 99% done but missing the deadline by just that 1% still in progress.
  2. Choose Your Engine Wisely
I've seen too many teams disband or submit lackluster games because they got bogged down in engine development during the jam. My advice? Have your engine ready to go before the jam starts. This way, you can focus all your energy on creating your game.
  3. Be Kind
Remember, the game development community is tight-knit. Winning a game jam by undermining others is not only unsporting, it's shortsighted. People might forget the specifics of your game, but they’ll always remember how you treated them. Let’s make this a supportive and friendly competition!

Looking forward to seeing the creativity and collaboration that I know this community is all about. Let’s make this Duck Duck Jam one to remember!

Happy Jamming!

capitalist. How dare you.

This is awesome! Someone who's willing to do my 10 tracks, plus looping intro and credits tracks FOR FREE! Take that, Capitalism! Thank you.

Thanks for the review. The implications of climate change are subtle but you need to look at the planets themselves. You come from a healthy world suited for your species, but you see warning signs of what your world could become like a desert planet, or a water planet, or a gas giant. If you don't pay a high enough tax rate to your government, your world could turn into a gas giant 17 times the size of your current planet. That's a warning we all need to take very seriously.

Did you win anything? I didn't win anything. was this jam abandoned or something

Great game!!

Good game!

You can pan the camera by holding Right-click. It's in the How To Play instructions. Thanks for the review! Yeah I programmed your allies to trigger mines too because, well, sometimes its not you who makes the mistake. sometimes you pay for the mistakes of those around you.

I've got 3D reverse TD you may be interested in : )

all 5's, great game! It's rare I play a game more than once. I think I played yours 8 or 9 times.

This game made me crave some sliced fruit. Good game!
