Innocent looking games turning scary has been so overdone ever since Baldi's Basics, that actual non-horror games with an old aesthetic got surprising (Frog Days).

In the same vein of thought, I believe more of the "interesting conceptual narrative" sort of games need to focus on gameplay. I do not mean Walking Simulators and Visual Novels like Gone Home or The Doll Shop, in fact I respect that genre. What I do mean is the kind of games that ManlyBadassHero plays, full-length games that do have gameplay but no real challenge or replay value at all, all because visuals and story is given way more attention.

And most Unity 2D platforming games should not use pixel art, because pixels smoothly flowing across the screen as a single sprite makes no sense in actually old games. There are a few times where this flaw actually looks charming, in it's own Unity kind of way, so I don't always mind it (Seven Weeks of Cat Monarchy)

Why that username?

I play itch.io a lot, and suffer from anguish in life in general. I will change it because it sounds like I suffer from itch.io, which is not the case

Oh that makes sense hahaha
